Lewiston, ME to Syracuse, NY

We were up at 5:30 a.m. ET and on the road at 6:00 a.m. We rode through the White Mountains and into New Hampshire on some very nice windy roads. Had breakfast and a butt break about 2 hours into New Hampshire at a very nice café with an outdoor dining area. We stopped after another 2 1/2 hours in Vermont for a break and to figure out the best route through New York. We stopped in Saratoga Springs, New York to share some chicken fries at Burger King (BTW-don't waste your money).

We got back on the road and when we got to Utica, New York we ran into the storm from Hell. We pulled off and stopped behind a row of construction barrels on an exit ramp that was undergoing construction. Joyce got off the bike and stood next to Jeff because it was all he could do to keep the bike upright. The wind blew over a Port-a-Pottie that Joyce was seriously thinking of going in to get out of the rain. We were completely drenched. The rain found its way through every little open spot and even ran into one of Jeff's boots to such an extent that he poured the water out later.

The rain lightened a bit and we plowed ahead. We arrived in Syracuse, New York, still soaked to the bone. We dried out ourselves and our clothes in a Laundromat and while we there it started to rain again. Fortunately it was not very heavy and we rode through it. We got back to our room at the Motel 6 and ordered pizza. 55 minutes later the food arrived. Turned in early; completely wiped out.
